Launch of ehslaw.net
Dear Subscribers,
First of all, we would like to thank you for your continued support and wish you all the best in 2012.
We received a formal notification from our developer and web hosting company that they would be moving away from web hosting business in early August 2011. Our proprietary portal ehslaw.net developed by RIET since 2005 will come to an end by Dec 2011. It was a mixed feeling of sentiment and helplessness for me initially. Although the ehslaw.net website has many limitations, the portal has served many of us faithfully, among the more than one thousand users, for a long time.
We started to work on the development and transition to a new portal for http://ehslaw.net. We took feedback from many supportive users and concluded that the transition should not be limited to a change of platform, but also to include enhancement in contents organization and updating process. The new portal was finally launched on 15th December 2011, just before the deadline to shutdown the old portal. You will find that the new portal at http://ehslaw.net provides you with the following convenient features:
- Login by user name or registered email address;
- Change your user name that you can remember;
- Reset password yourself and request password online;
- View subscription plan and expiry date; and
- Sign up for additional user at S$ 10 per month, subject to the remaining subscription period.
We have expanded the scope of EHS Legislation Handbook to include in more legislation related to controlled chemicals, energy and workplace safety and health that may be relevant to you. The newly included legislation from December 2011 includes:
- Chemical Weapon (Prohibition) Act
- District Cooling Act
- Employment Act, Part IV
- Hydrogen Cyanide (Fumigation) Act
- Poisons Act
- Work Injury Compensation Act
Standards and codes of practice are increasingly referred to in legislation. We will be improving our updates on standards and codes of practice.You will receive the fourth quarter 2011 update summary shortly. Feel free to explore the new website. We understand that some of you may face problems in accessing the new portal at http://ehslaw.net. We are working with the developer to iron out the remaining teething issues. Please contact us and we will send you the requested information. We sincerely seek you understanding during the transition period.
Yours sincerely,
Yeo Kek Koon
